Dose-Response Chart
Toxicologists follow the principle: the dose makes the poison. The greater the toxic chemical exposure (dose) an individual has, the greater their response to the poison will be. However, hundreds of thousands of tiny doses of a wide variety of chemicals encountered over the course of a day, or week, or month, etc. can add up to a total sum of a very huge dose; and the body then enters a poisoned condition. Medical intervention must involve lowering the toxic chemical exposure (dose), or else it will not be effective. *Chart taken from book: 'Toxicology Primer' by Michael A. Kamrin, PhD; Published by CRC Press |
